SIOUX FALLS, SD (August 16, 2013) – POET Biorefining plants in Gowrie and Coon Rapids, Iowa have donated $1,000 each to support the Fly Iowa 2013 Airshow, which will feature the ethanol-powered Vanguard Squadron.
The August 24 event will be held at the Perry Municipal Airport with full day of programming including a fly-in/drive-in breakfast from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., a parachute jump, Mustang and Japanese Zero dog fight, amazing aerobatics, wing walking, exhibits, food vendors and more. The air show event begins at 1 p.m. and will last approximately two hours and is free and open to the public. It is organized by the Perry Airport Commission and the Iowa Aviation Promotion Group.
The Vanguard Squadron flies a four-plane formation aerobatic airshow and has been powered by ethanol since it started in 1993. The team has over 3,000 flight hours using 100 percent ethanol.
“The Vanguard Squadron puts on a phenomenal show, all the while demonstrating the power and reliability of ethanol as a fuel,” said Bill Bluml, Commodity Manager at POET Biorefining – Gowrie. “I’m proud that we are able to support Fly Iowa’s efforts to bring this show to the public.”
