Mr. President,

Enlist America’s Farms to Solve the Climate Crisis.

As one of the world’s largest producers of renewable fuels, we applaud your leadership in making climate a top priority and working to end America’s addiction to fossil fuels.

With a challenge as urgent as climate change, we cannot rest our future wholly on one solution or wait decades for results. We in the Midwest have witnessed firsthand the enormous cost of climate inaction as unprecedented weather patterns have ripped through America’s heartland, destroying crops, damaging infrastructure, and leaving multi-generational farm families on the brink of bankruptcy.

American farmers and biofuel producers are already cultivating solutions to the climate crisis. Continuous innovations in precision agriculture and biofuel production are currently delivering plant-based bioethanol that cuts average lifecycle GHG emissions by 46% compared to gasoline according to the latest research, and that number is improving every year.

Biofuels Can Accelerate the Shift to Net-Zero.

Bioethanol is a cleaner, healthier, and more affordable liquid fuel that is readily available to be utilized in the fight against climate change. Increasing access to higher biofuel blends, starting with E15, is the most effective way to decarbonize America’s existing vehicle fleet right now.

In fact, shifting to E15 can eliminate more than 17 million tons of GHG emissions each year and displace toxic chemicals in gasoline that diminish air quality and damage our health. E15 is already EPA-approved and can immediately reduce the carbon footprint of 245 million vehicles on the road today. As we work to “Build Back Better,” expanding nationwide access to E15 will create more green jobs and grow dependable markets for our farmers right here at home.

Mr. President, we urge your Administration to uphold your commitment to protect family farms and bio-based manufacturing jobs, strengthen the Renewable Fuel Standard, and support E15. We ask your administration to take swift action on pro-biofuel policies and update regulations to reflect the most up-to-date science, the clear intent of Congress, and recent rulings of the courts.

With little time to stop climate change, we must act now. We cannot afford to spend years waiting for a solution.
