POET Applauds Governor Signing Bioethanol Incentive Bill

Monday, April 27, 2026

TOPEKA, Kansas (April 27, 2026) — POET, the world’s largest producer of biofuels, applauds Kansas Governor Laura Kelly signing CCR SB 82, which includes SB 498, a volumetric tax credit for retailers on the sale of higher bioethanol blends, critical to expanding access to and consumer savings from E15 across the state.

“POET applauds the Kansas Legislature for its bipartisan support and Governor Kelly for signing this bill that will ensure Kansas drivers have access to affordable fuel at the pump,” said Steve Seabrook, POET Biofuels Vice President of Commercial Relations. “Expanding E15 will support small business fuel retailers, ensure dependable grain demand for farmers, and spur new capital investments in our state.”

Last year, Americans saved an average of 22 cents per gallon with E15. Expanding E15 will lift farm incomes, ensure dependable grain demand for more than 10,000 Kansas farmers, and increase the supply of feed co-products – helping Kansas beef, dairy, and pork producers access more abundant and affordable feed at a time when agriculture faces formidable challenges.

Lastly, the volumetric incentive for higher biofuel blends included in CCR SB 82 will also help improve air quality by incentivizing retailers to offer cleaner fuel options across the state.

POET is the world's largest biofuel producer with deep roots in Kansas. Each year, POET's Wichita headquarters buys approximately 7% of the U.S. corn crop and markets fuel for 44 ethanol facilities across the Midwest.
