SIOUX FALLS, SD (August 2, 2013) – POET Founder and Executive Chairman, Jeff Broin, was honored by Top Producer Magazine readers as the top brave thinker in agriculture over the last 30 years.
Earlier this year the magazine compiled a list of the top 30 thinkers in agriculture. From that list, readers voted for the person they thought made the most significant impact in agriculture.
The magazine announced the winner in an article yesterday.
Broin Tops the List as Brave Thinker
In the article, Broin highlights the need for people in agriculture to be strong advocates for ethanol. 2013 in particular is an important year for biofuels, both from grain and cellulose.
"Without further growth of biofuel blends beyond the present 10% that the RFS calls for, crop prices will decline, and farm profits will evaporate," Broin said in the article.
About POET
POET, one of the world’s largest ethanol producers, is a leader in biorefining through its efficient, vertically integrated approach to production. The 25-year-old company has a production capacity in excess of 1.6 billion gallons of ethanol and 9 billion pounds of high-protein animal feed annually from its network of 27 production facilities. POET also operates a pilot-scale cellulosic bio-ethanol plant, which uses corn cobs, leaves, husk and some stalk as feedstock, and expects to commercialize the process in Emmetsburg, Iowa through its joint venture with DSM.
