Sioux Falls, SD, Tuesday, March 23, 2003 - The Broin Companies are proud to announce the Ground Breaking ceremony for Voyager Ethanol, LLC (VEL) at Emmetsburg, IA. Voyager Ethanol will be the fourth ethanol plant the Broin Companies of Sioux Falls, SD have completed in the state of Iowa. The Broin Companies provide turnkey development, design/build, management and product marketing services for their partner facilities. The Ground Breaking will take place at Iowa Lakes Community College on April 23, 2004. More specifics about the event will be released in the coming weeks.

With cooperation and partnership from the agricultural community along with the county and community leadership, Voyager Ethanol is excited to bring another new value-added agricultural business to Iowa. VEL will create 50 million gallons of ethanol by consuming over 17.5 million bushels of corn from the regional area. The plant will employ approximately 40 people, most from the local area. Voyager Ethanol will also help improve the local corn basis while providing an environmentally friendly fuel and a premium Dakota Gold PlusTM brand livestock feed for local, regional and national markets.

"Voyager Ethanol is creating a new corn market for producers throughout the region; it is providing new highly technical and good paying jobs and will contribute millions of dollars to the local economy,” said Jeff Broin, CEO of the Broin Companies. "We're thrilled to play such a key role in the successful ethanol industry in Iowa and look forward to maximizing the success of Voyager Ethanol."

Surveying, permitting and other site development activities are in their final stages. Site work is scheduled to start the week of April 19 with concrete and construction to begin in June. Plant start-up is projected for summer of 2005.

Natural gas transportation for VEL will be provided by Northern Natural Gas and MidAmerican Energy Company will provide electric utility service to the plant. According to Steve Page, Senior Energy Consultant for MidAmerican Energy, the addition of VEL to the area is phenomenal. “Partnering with projects like

Voyager Ethanol, LLC strengthens our commitment to the area by providing reliable power at a competitive price to the entire north-central Iowa region.” Voyager Ethanol will produce 50 million gallons of ethanol annually and is the 20th ethanol plant built by the Broin Companies, who began building ethanol plants in 1983. The company has built plants in 5 states and provides turnkey development, design/build, management and product marketing services for their partner facilities.
