Sioux River Ethanol, LLC in Hudson, SD to Host Grand Opening

Sioux Falls, SD, Monday, April 26, 2004 - The Broin Companies would like to invite you to the Grand Opening of Sioux River Ethanol, LLC in Hudson, SD. Sioux River Ethanol (SRE) will be the sixth ethanol plant project the Broin Companies of Sioux Falls, SD have completed in the state of South Dakota.

The Grand Opening will take place at the plant site near Hudson on May 1. Public tours will begin at 10:00 AM and continue until 1:00 PM. Lunch will be served from 10:30 AM to 1:00 PM. The Grand Opening program will take place from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM followed by public tours until 4:00 PM. Parking will be available at the City Park in Hudson and at West Sioux High School in Hawarden, IA. Buses will run continuously to and from the plant. No parking will be allowed at the plant site. Media wishing access to the site should call for press credentials.

“This region is going to see tremendous economic benefits. It will also be rewarded with one of the most technologically-advanced, economically-enhanced, environmentally-friendly ethanol production facilities in the country,” said Jeff Broin, CEO of the Broin Companies. “The Broin Companies are excited to bring this worldclass facility to Hudson with its new advances in design, research, construction, microbiology and technology. These enhancements, refined by our firm over the past 20 years, will also make this facility one of the most efficient and successful.”

Ethanol production by Sioux River Ethanol will consume over 16 million bushels of corn from the regional area, planted on about 110,000 acres of local farm ground. Sioux River Ethanol will improve the local corn basis while providing an environmentally friendly fuel and a valuable high protein Dakota Gold PlusTM brand livestock feed.

“There are so many ways this plant will help the rural economy it’s hard to count them all,” said Joel Jarman, General Manager of Sioux River Ethanol. “The community will benefit from dozens of good paying jobs; Hudson and the local area will benefit from millions of dollars in economic activity and farmers will benefit from the increased corn prices. It’s a win-win-win situation.”

Sioux River Ethanol will produce 45 million gallons of ethanol annually and is the 19th ethanol plant built by the Broin Companies, who began building ethanol plants in 1983. The Broin Companies’ track record for ethanol plant projects is second to none. Each of the plants constructed by the Broin Companies team is currently running above nameplate capacity and enjoying financial success. The company has built plants in 5 states and provides turnkey development, design/build, management and product marketing services with their partner facilities.
