POET to host grand opening of their 20th ethanol production facility in Corning, Iowa on May 4


Annual production capacity at 20 POET plants will surpass one billion gallons

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (April 18, 2007) – On May 4, POET will host a grand opening event for POET Biorefining in Corning, Iowa. The $105 million ethanol production facility in Corning will be the 20th POET production facility and their seventh in the state of Iowa. Once Corning is operational, the annual production capacity of POET will be over one billion gallons.

The grand opening event will be held at the facility (1680 Brooks Rd.) beginning at 1:15 p.m. with a flyover from the Vanguard Squadron – the world’s only 100 percent ethanol-powered aerobatic fleet. Starting at 1:30 p.m., the speaking program includes POET CEO Jeff Broin, U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley and Iowa Secretary of Agriculture Bill Northey. Guided public tours are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. to noon and 2:30 to 4:00 p.m. Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Public parking is available at the Adams County Fairgrounds with overflow at the town square. Buses will run to and from the public parking places and the facility throughout the day. Due to space constraints, public parking at the facility can not be allowed.

POET Biorefining – Corning will produce 60 million gallons of ethanol per year, consume more than 21 million bushels of corn from the area and provide around 40 jobs with an annual payroll of approximately $2 million.
