POET, the world’s largest grain ethanol producer and a leader in cellulosic ethanol development, has been ranked #3 in the Biofuels Digest “Hottest Companies in Bioenergy,” the publication announced today.

POET joins Amyris and Solazyme in the top three. All three companies ranked in the top three last year as well.

According to biofuels Digest, the rankings are based 50 percent on votes from a 75-member panel of international selectors and 50 percent on votes from subscribers of Biofuels Digest and Renewable Chemicals Digest.

“It’s a great honor for POET to be recognized by its peers as a leader in the industry,” POET CEO Jeff Broin said. “It’s exciting to see so many companies doing so many great things in alternative energy. I know our industry will continue to make leaps in science and technology so that we can finally break free from our nation’s addiction to imported oil.”
