Nineteen POET ethanol plants have been recognized for outstanding safety in transporting products by Norfolk Southern and Canadian National railroads.

Norfolk Southern’s Thoroughbred Chemical Safety Award and Canadian National’s Safe Handling Award
were given to POET plants in Ashton, Coon Rapids, Corning, Emmetsburg, Gowrie, Hanlontown and Jewell, Iowa; Big Stone City, Chancellor, Groton, Hudson, Mitchell and Scotland, S.D.; Alexandria, North Manchester and Portland, Ind.; Bingham Lake and Lake Crystal, Minn; and Fostoria, Ohio.

The award is given to companies that have no non-accident releases during the year and have successful prevention plans in place.

“We take safety very seriously at POET, and the track records at these plants are a perfect example of that,” POET CEO Jeff Broin said. “Our team members are committed to making every step of the production process as safe as possible.”
