POET: Ethanol industry can do much more

Doug Berven to detail ‘path forward for biofuels’ at 25x’25 summit

Monday, June 28, 2010

The ethanol industry today offsets significant amounts of imported oil, but so much more is within reach. POET will outline Thursday the path to realizing that potential at the 6th National 25x'25 Summit.

POET Director of Corporate Affairs Doug Berven will speak during the 10 a.m. session titled “Meeting the 36 Billion Gallon RFS; the Path Forward for Biofuels” on Thursday, July 1 at the Crystal Gateway Marriott, Arlington, VA.

Berven will show how ethanol and agriculture technology along with public policy that allows greater access to the fuel market can provide consumers a clean, domestic fuel future.

POET will also take part in a special exhibition to demonstrate the nation’s leadership in developing clean, sustainable biomass for transportation, heating, cooling and lighting. “Our Bioenergy Future is Here Today,” a series of exhibits staged by select 25x’25 partners, will illuminate bioenergy production from farm and forest to fuel tank and power plant. It takes place 1 - 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 30 at the U.S. National Arboretum.

To RSVP for Wednesday’s biomass exhibition, contact Bill Eby at 512-940-8990, or by e-mail at BEby@25x25.org.
