POET CEO Jeff Broin to testify at Senate hearing on high gasoline prices

Broin: Ethanol lowers shock of foreign oil price hikes, will do more in future

Monday, March 28, 2011

POET CEO Jeff Broin will outline how ethanol lowers gas prices by providing competition to foreign oil and how that impact can be even greater with open access to the U.S. fuel market at a Senate committee hearing Wednesday in Washington, D.C.

The hearing, held by the U.S. Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, is titled “Fundamentals and Farming: Evaluating High Gas Prices and How New Rules and Innovative Farming Can Help”. Broin will discuss how agriculture is already making a difference through ethanol, but how that positive effect can be much more significant by allowing innovative producers and farmers to respond to the challenge presented when worldwide events drive up the cost of imported oil.

The hearing is scheduled for 10:30 a.m. EST Wednesday in the Senate Agriculture Committee Hearing Room, SR-328A. A live webcast will be available on the committee website: http://ag.senate.gov.
