New GM leads team at POET Biorefining - Portland


Steve Pittman to oversee operations at 68 million gallon-per-year ethanol plant

Steve Pittman, an Indianapolis native, is the new general manager at POET Biorefining – Portland.

Pittman will supervise professional, technical and support staff at the facility ensuring efficient production and that all rules and regulations are met.

“I have a great interest in assuring we reduce our dependence on foreign oil by moving to greener solutions for our energy needs for generations to come,” Pittman said. “Playing a role in the ethanol movement with POET will give me great satisfaction knowing our work will make for a cleaner environment for our grandchildren and their children.”

Pittman is an Indianapolis native and earned his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology from Purdue University. Before joining POET, Pittman spent over 20 years in engineering, quality and plant operations management, including 12 years in plant general management. Pittman’s experience also includes project management, new plant launches, turnaround activities, and realignment assignments.
