Glenville, Minn., Selected for Ethanol Production Facility

Wednesday, December 20, 2006

Sioux Falls, S.D. – Broin Companies, the nation’s largest dry mill ethanol producer, announced its plans today for the development and construction of Glenville Ethanol, LLC near Glenville, Minn. Glenville is located less than 10 miles southeast of Albert Lea, Minn., which is home to EXOL, a separate Broin managed facility that came on-line in August 1999 and operates at 45 million gallons per year. The new 60 million gallon per year Glenville Ethanol project will consume 21 million bushels of locally grown corn and produce 178,000 tons of premium Dakota Gold Enhanced Nutrition Distillers Products™.

Site development activities are moving forward quickly for the $115 million project. Construction is planned to begin in the summer of 2007 with a start-to-finish time period of 12-14 months. Broin Companies, in conjunction with county and city officials, have been working together on development activities and have made significant progress on the proposed ethanol facility project.

“We are extremely excited about building a second ethanol production facility in the Glenville and Albert Lea area,” Jeff Broin, CEO of Broin Companies said. “There is an ample supply of corn in the area and the opportunity that exists for our current EXOL membership to deliver corn to a second facility only enhances the economic impact felt in the region and the long-term viability of both facilities.”

Glenville Ethanol will be the 31st ethanol plant built by the Broin Companies, who will provide turnkey development, design, engineering, construction, management, and marketing services for the project. In addition to EXOL, Broin Companies currently manages three other plants in Minnesota – Ethanol 2000 in Bingham Lake, Northstar Ethanol in Lake Crystal and Pro-Corn in Preston.
