CARO, MICH. (Feb. 15, 2017) – POET’s biorefining facility in Caro, Michigan was recently recognized with the company’s annual Excellence Award for Operations during a ceremony at POET headquarters in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The award recognizes team members at the local plant for their outstanding commitment to safety and efficiency.

“Our team in Caro continuously raises the bar, working hand-in-hand with local farmers to deliver high-quality renewable fuels and create jobs and economic activity in the community,” said POET CEO Jeff Broin. “They’ve raised the plant’s ethanol production from 55 to 67 million gallons per year, providing a market for more than 60,000 bushels of corn per day and contributing more than $95 million to the state GDP. I’d like to congratulate the Caro team for their hard work and drive to make our facility in Michigan a leader in the ethanol industry.”

POET Biorefining – Caro lies on a 112-acre site about two miles northeast of the Tuscola Area Airport. The plant supports 50 full-time jobs. Caro was the 14th plant built by POET, which currently operates 28 plants in seven states.

“We’re honored to be recognized for our contributions to the biofuels industry, driving U.S. energy security and helping Michigan to grow as a leader in manufacturing and agriculture,” said General Manager David Gloer. “Most of all, we’re thrilled to work at the heart of a wonderful community that shares our passion for building new economic opportunities for our generation and the next.”
