Broin intends to build a 60 mgpy facility near the Northern Ohio community of Fostoria

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (March 21, 2007) – The Broin Companies, the nation’s largest dry mill ethanol producer, announced that they will construct their company’s 30th ethanol production facility near Fostoria, Ohio. The Northern Ohio community of Fostoria is located in Seneca County 40 miles southeast of Toledo. Fostoria Ethanol, a $130 million production facility, will be located approximately 1.5 miles northeast of Fostoria on Highway 12 and Yokum Road.

At 65 million gallons of ethanol per year (MGPY), Fostoria Ethanol will consume 21 million bushels of locally grown corn and produce 178,000 tons of premium Dakota Gold Enhanced Nutrition Distillers Products™. Ethanol marketing for the facility will be provided by Ethanol Products and byproducts will be marketed by Dakota Gold Marketing, both subsidiaries of Broin Companies.

Broin Companies expects to start construction in the next 30-60 days with a construction time period of 12-14 months. Broin has worked closely with State, Seneca, Wood and Hancock County Officials along with representatives from Jackson and Louden Townships and most notably the city of Fostoria and the Fostoria Economic Development Corporation on the project and the groups will continue to work together as the project moves forward.

"We selected Fostoria because the site met our rigorous selection criteria and we developed an excellent working relationship with area officials and the economic development corporation,” said Jeff Broin, President and CEO of the Broin Companies. "I can’t think of a better site than Fostoria for our company’s 30th ethanol plant and we look forward to being a contributing member of the local business community."

David Whitta, Chairman of the Fostoria Economic Development Corporation, said, "On behalf of our executive director James Bischoff, our assistant director Joan Reinhard, the FEDC executive board and the FEDC board as a whole, I would like to welcome the Broin Companies to Fostoria’s business community. With today’s announcement, we are witness of what can be achieved with the cooperation of public and private entities."

Mayor John Davoli said, "We are pleased and excited about our new partnership with Broin. They have been a wonderful company to deal with and we look forward to them becoming one of our leading corporate citizens." Mayor Davoli added, "This project is a result of many people coming together and working hard to make Fostoria Ethanol a reality. To all of those involved, I am deeply grateful."

Fostoria Ethanol will be the 30th ethanol production facility built by the Broin Companies, who will provide turnkey development, design, engineering, construction, management and marketing services for the project. Fostoria is the second of what could be up to four ethanol production facilities in Ohio. Summit Ethanol near Leipsic, Ohio is scheduled for completion later this year and Broin Companies is evaluating other sites in the state.
