Sioux Falls, S.D. - The Broin Companies, the nation’s largest dry mill ethanol producer, recently announced plans for the development and construction of Ultimate Ethanol, LLC near Alexandria, Ind. Alexandria is located about 55 miles northeast of Indianapolis. The 60 million gallon per year (MGPY) project will consume 21 million bushels of locally grown corn and produce 178,000 tons of premium Dakota Gold Enhanced Nutrition Distillers Products™. The plant is also designed to expand to 100 MGPY.

Site development activities are moving forward quickly for the $105 million project. Construction is planned to begin before the end of the year with a construction time period of 12-14 months. Broin Companies, Madison County and Alexandria city officials have been working together on development activities and have made significant progress on the proposed ethanol facility project.

"The selection of Alexandria comes on the heels of a successful evaluation process that included local economic development officials, community leaders, and staff from the Broin Companies," Jeff Broin, CEO of the Broin Companies said. "This is a remarkable economic opportunity for the region and we look forward to Ultimate Ethanol being a valuable business and community member in the Alexandria area."

"Six months ago we started meeting with Broin officials," Steven Skaggs, Mayor of Alexandria, said. "We’ve heard nothing but good things about Broin Companies and the work they do and it is a great partnership for the future. We are excited about the opportunities this project brings to our community and the chance to contribute to a solution for our nation’s energy needs."

Ultimate Ethanol will be the 29th ethanol plant built by the Broin Companies, who will provide turnkey development, design, engineering, construction, management and marketing services for the project. Broin Companies is also constructing Premier Ethanol near Portland, Ind., which is scheduled for completion next fall.
