Sioux Falls, SD - The Broin Companies are pleased to announce that Frontier Ethanol, LLC, near Gowrie, Iowa, is the 100th ethanol plant to begin operations in the United States. The Sioux Falls, SD-based company developed, designed, engineered, and built the facility and will provide management and marketing services to Frontier Ethanol. The facility will celebrate its grand opening on Thursday, May 25, 2006.

"The Broin Companies built one of the first successful ethanol production plants in America in the early 1980s and we are thrilled that our plant, Frontier Ethanol, is our nation’s 100th," exclaimed Jeff Broin, CEO of the Broin Companies. "This is a tremendous milestone for our industry and our organization."

Frontier Ethanol is the 23rd ethanol plant built by the Broin Companies, who provide turnkey development, design, engineering, construction, management, and marketing services for the ethanol industry. The facility will process 21 million bushels of corn into 60 million gallons of ethanol and 178,000 tons of Dakota Gold Enhanced Nutrition Distillers Products™ annually. The plant will employ approximately 40 people with an annual payroll of $1.8 million.

"Frontier Ethanol is the 25th ethanol refinery in Iowa and the 100th in the U.S.," said Monte Shaw, IRFA Executive Director. "Broin Companies has been instrumental in growing the ethanol industry, but I doubt the Broin Companies ever imagined they’d build the 100th ethanol facility when they started building their first plant on the family farm in Minnesota. Looking ahead now, it’s exciting to dream big about the future of the ethanol industry and the role Frontier Ethanol and Broin Companies will play."
