Sioux Falls, SD – The Broin Companies today announced preliminary plans for development of an ethanol plant near Corning, IA. Broin Companies and the Adams Community Economic Development Corporation have been working together along with city and county officials on due diligence activities and have made significant progress on the proposed ethanol facility project.

“We are pleased with the Broin Companies consideration of our area for one of their projects,” said Beth Waddle, Executive Director of Adams Community Economic Development Corporation. “A project like this would have significant economic impact on the area—adding jobs and a new market for local corn producers. We are anxious to finalize the remaining due diligence activities.”

David Lambert, Director of Site Development for Broin Companies stated, “This potential site and the community of Corning, Iowa are very favorable for a Broin ethanol production facility and we look forward to continuing the evaluation process and working with community leaders, area utility representatives and Adams County officials.”

Site development activities are moving forward at a brisk pace. Although no specific time table has been officially determined, construction could start as early as next Spring.

If plans move forward, this project will be the 26th ethanol plant built by the Broin Companies, who will provide turnkey development, design, engineering, construction, management and marketing services for the project. Broin Companies plants currently operating in Iowa include Tall Corn Ethanol, LLC near Coon Rapids; Iowa Ethanol, LLC near Hanlontown; Otter Creek Ethanol, LLC near Ashton and Voyager Ethanol, LLC near Emmetsburg. Broin Companies is currently constructing Horizon Ethanol, LLC near Jewell, IA and Frontier Ethanol, LLC near Gowrie, IA.

“The Broin Companies are excited to bring this value-added business to the Corning area,” said Jeff Broin, Broin Companies’ CEO. “This world-class facility will be a catalyst for millions of dollars in new economic growth for the region.”

The plant would help improve the local corn basis while providing an environmentally friendly fuel and premium Dakota Gold Enhanced Nutrition Distillers Products™ for regional, national and international markets. The plant would employ approximately 40 full-time employees with an annual payroll of approximately $1.8 million.
