Broin Companies Begins Construction of Summit

Sioux Falls, S.D. – The Broin Companies announces the ground breaking ceremony for Summit Ethanol, LLC to be constructed near Leipsic, Ohio. A program will be held at the Fogle Center, 815 E. Mathias Street in Leipsic at 1:30 p.m. on October 17, 2006.

Invited speakers for the program include Ohio Governor Bob Taft; Judy Cowan, Governor’s Regional Representative; State Senator Lynn Wachtmann; Martin Kuhlman, Director of Putnam County CIC; Leipsic Mayor Kevin Benton; Mike Wagner from the Ohio Corn Growers; Shannon Gustafson from the American Coalition for Ethanol; and Matt Hartwig of the Renewable Fuels Association. Jeff Broin, CEO of the Broin Companies, will also address the audience.

A ground breaking ceremony will be held immediately following the program at Summit Ethanol's construction site: 3875 Highway 65. The public is invited to attend both the program and ground breaking ceremony.

Summit Ethanol will produce 60 million gallons of ethanol per year (MGPY) and is expandable to over 100 MGPY. The facility will consume more than 21 million bushels of corn from the area and will provide approximately 40 high quality jobs with an annual payroll of approximately $1.8 million. The facility will also produce approximately 178,000 tons of premium Dakota Gold Enhanced Nutrition Distillers Products™ for regional, national, and international markets. This project will contain many of the Broin Companies’ new technology innovations including BPX™.

Site development and preparation activities are moving forward at a brisk pace. Completion is projected for fall 2007.
